The Association of Strong Women Alone is one of the leading NGO’s in Udaipur which works towards the development and welfare of women in backward and rural areas of Rajasthan. The organization focuses on ensuring the right of dignity and respect for widows and those women who have been divorced, abandoned and thrown out by their husbands.
The Association of Strong Women Alone was established in January 2000 with a mission to enable low-income women to build an organization through which the members work together in order to change their mental, physical, social, cultural, political, economical, family and legal status.

Objectives

• To work towards providing women from rural areas a life of dignity

• To convey to the society and “women alone” that widows and separated women are strong women
• To build coordination amongst the members of association, so that they help each other in times of need

• To work towards convincing the government to make more and batter laws, schemes and rules which will benefit “women alone”

• Thousands of individual low-income widows and separated women have been helped
• The State Government is lobbied; to issue a Government Order which puts emphasis on giving priority to women on drought relief work, to waive school fees for sons and daughters of widows and separated women,in government schools up to class 12th
•  Government grants rs 10,000 to widows for their daughter’s marriage
• The widows get pension of Rs. 400 per month
• There is also a pension for separated women
• Women have been selected for Below Poverty Line (BPL) list, ration cards and health related treatments
•  Getting possession of property or land over which they have legal rights
• Protection from domestic violence and many more.
