Where is Udaipur ?
The city of Udaipur, strategically girded by spectacularly green, lofty and minerally rich Aravali hills and steel-blue lakes, nestles at about 1900 feet above sea level on the crossing point of 75° E. Longitude and 24° N. Latitude in the south-east of Rajasthan. The old city is mostly on a hillock and new extensions are on plain level. The old city is enclosed by a massive wall 5 feet thick and about 20 feet high and having about a 6-mile-circumference which was constructed during 1615-1734 A.D. The wall has 10 gates.
Udaipur is situated in northeastern part of Girwa Tehsil of Udaipur district. Udaipur is located on the Delhi- Mumbai National Highway No.8. Udaipur is 420 kk far from the state capital Jaipur and 250 km from Ahmedabad. Udaipur is connected to other centers to the state by three state highways State Highway 9 connecting Chittorgarh, State Highway 32 connecting Banswara and State Highway 32 connecting Mount Abu. It is also connected to Chittorgarh via State Highway 76.
Airlines Facilities: Udaipur is well connected to Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Aurangabad. Indian Air Lines, Jet Airlines, Spice Jet and other private airlines operate regular flights. The Air port of Udaipur Dabok is 24 Kms far from the city.
Railways Infrastructure: Udaipur is are directly connected with Delhi, Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Chittaurgarh, Jodhpur and Ahmedabad.
Roadways Facilities: Government of Rajasthan’s Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC), operates buses viz ordinary, semi-deluxe and deluxe catagory. Private transport operators are also providing satisfied services and facilities. The distance by road form Udaipur to Ahmedabad 250 km, Mumbai 780 km, Delhi 675 km, Jaipur 400 km, Chittorgarh 115 km and Mount Abu 185 km. Regular bus services are available for Udaipur to Ahmedabad, Chitorgarh, Eklingji, Falna, Jaisamad, Kankroli, Mount Abu, Nathdwara, Ranakpur, Rishabhdeoji, Jodhpur, jaisalmer, Kota, Bikaner, Jaipur, Delhi, and other cities of Rajasthan and nabouring states.

Area, Population and Living
The municipal area of the city is about 100 sq. km and the population more than 5 lakh. It is the fourth largest city of Rajasthan. Main language spoken in Udaipur are Mewari, Hindi and English. Other foreign language service like Franch, Italian are also available. Marwari and vagdi Dilects are also spoken. Gujrati, Punjabi, Malyalam and Bengali languages are also the languages popular in native communities.
Climate of Udaipur is quite salubrious and moderate throughout the year being shunned from all the rigours of weather, viz., snow-falls, teasingly torrential rains, floods and extremities of temperature. Climatic data are as follow :
